TailGate Brewery’s East Nashville Experimental Program Hits its Stride

TailGate releases limited run of Cherry Foeder Saison

NASHVILLE, TN (February 17, 2020)

TailGate Brewery’s third brewery/taproom in East Nashville is rolling with the funk. TailGate Brewery East Nashville opened in September of 2018, and functions as both the third taproom and home of TailGate’s wild and spontaneous fermentation program. With the additional production space designed for the expansion of their wild, barrel aging program; the brewery has been pumping out small-batch experimental beers from this passion project ever since.

The most recent release is Cherry Foeder Saison: a brett, mixed fermentation saison, aged for 3 months on tart cherries. “We fermented this wild ale with a mixed culture, then added tart cherries to the mix,” said Director of Production Eric Moore. “We let it mature until the flavor was exactly to our liking and met our high expectations for quality.” Hand-bottled and tapped to commemorate TailGate’s 5th anniversary in West Nashville, the beer’s now on tap at all three TailGate locations.

The East Nashville location features an in-taproom production facility composed of a foeder, blending tank and a variety of barrels for aging - with designs for growth. While TailGate’s main production facility will release up to two brand-new beers each week, East Nashville’s styles can be barrel-aged for years, making each new drop highly anticipated, and extremely limited.

“We set out to make this program a passion project. That means slow, expensive and maybe not the best business sense,” said Owner and Brewmaster Wesley Keegan. “Wild and spontaneous fermentation is something we’re really interested in here and this location allows us the ability to be creative and take risks without affecting our core production. And we like taking risks!”

Fans can find Cherry Foeder Saison at each TailGate Brewery location: Headquarters, Music Row and East Nashville. A limited amount of bottles are available at Headquarters.
